Sheila Roberts is an Area Coach (AC) for Desert de Oro who came to us from the health care industry six years ago. She’d just finished working a night shift, she recalls, when she saw a banner outside her local Taco Bell advertising that the restaurant was under new ownership. She’d thought, oh, maybe someone really good has bought this Taco Bell. That “someone” was us!
“I went online, and I applied, and the rest was history!” Sheila shares. Sheila’s intuition about a culture shift was correct. “Sure enough, [the difference] was night and day,” she says.
What’s the DDO difference? “I felt like they were genuinely concerned and interested in me,” Sheila shares.
“From Day 1 with DDO, I felt important.” – Sheila Roberts, Area Coach
SUPPORT AROUND EVERY CORNER
Help, support, training — these are a common theme when speaking with DDO team members.
“They’re always supportive of every one of us. And that’s something you just don’t find with companies,” Sheila shares.
Sheila says DDO has supported her, “in every way.” When she first joined, she was sent to our company headquarters in Arizona for training, and that’s when she realized that DDO not only supports, but also invests in their teams.
Sheila has also received help achieving her career goals during her time with us. She began as a Restaurant General Manager (RGM) before applying for the AC role at the encouragement of her boss at the time. “DDO has always been supportive of me and any direction that I wanted to go within the company,” she says. “I’ve never worked for anybody who’s been so positive about my goals.”
WINNING TEAM
We caught up with Sheila at our inaugural Estrellas de Oro reward trip in Los Cabos, Mexico. “I actually got here because of my team,” she says. “And because I have extraordinary RGMs that really try to excel in their positions.”
Because Sheila has felt cared for during her career journey, she is quick to do the same for her team members. “I want to bring everybody,” she says of the annual reward trip. “I will help you get there,” she assures.
“When someone takes the time to take your hand and lead you down the path and help you out … that just touches people’s lives forever,” Sheila says.
“I’ve traveled and seen things thanks to DDO that I would’ve never been able to do.” – Sheila Roberts, Area Coach
BALANCING ACT
With two daughters and six grandkids, work-life balance is important to Sheila. Fortunately, she says it’s a priority for DDO as well. “They really understand the struggles that everyone has between work and family, and they always want us to have that balance,” she says.
“[DDO] makes you feel wanted. And that they do believe in you. And feel like you are going to help them make a difference,” she shares.
A great pep talk from a great (Area) Coach. We’re lucky to have a gold star like you on our team, Sheila!
