JOSIE PEREZ ON DEVELOPMENT, GROWTH

This is Josie Perez, a passionate and eager-to-help leader. What started out as a first job at KFC has grown into a phenomenal career! She now holds the position of Area 30 Area Coach, overseeing our San Antonio, TX market, and has been part of the Desert De Oro Foods (DDO) family since we acquired the franchise she worked for previously in 2015.

Josie recently traveled to Providence, RI (Region 9) for the company to help out with some development activities. It was her first time in New England — she says she’d love to travel more in the future … as far away as Italy someday! The trip out east was Josie’s time to shine; she appreciated the opportunity it presented for her own development, too.

On the subject of growth and development, Josie has concluded that no matter the scenario, team members desire structure and direction. And Josie, in return, values honesty and integrity.

Early Influences

Coming from a large family, Josie reflects on how her upbringing has influenced her leadership style. Her cheerleader approach is often marked by a loud presence. It’s a byproduct of living with nine people in one house! And it sounds like she wouldn’t trade it for the world.

Growing up, Josie’s father encouraged her to do what she wanted. He said that “It doesn’t hurt to try and do what you truly feel you can do.” Perhaps it’s here where a seed was planted. She’s very passionate about teaching and guiding others to find their path.

“[My dad]said that there was nothing that I couldn’t do.” – Josie Perez, Area Coach

The Impact of Heartstyles

Heartstyles, a leadership development program, has also made a big impact on Josie. It has taught her to take a look at situations and ask, “How can I make a difference?” She’s surprised at how much she’s developed personally since her Heartstyles experience. Now, it’s her turn to continue inspiring curiosity and ambition in others.

She loves the different personalities of the people she works with and challenges them to think about where they want to be in 10 years. In fact, Josie inspires us all to keep looking forward!
