For Area Coach (AC) Lilia Narvaez, a career with Taco Bell has always been about more than serving great food – it’s about developing people, embracing growth and building relationships that last. After more than three decades with Taco Bell, Lilia continues to make an impact by helping the next generation of leaders find a path to success.
As we celebrate Lilia’s 10-year anniversary with Desert de Oro Foods (DDO), we take a look back at her career journey and what keeps her passionate about the brand she loves.
“Taco sauce is in my blood and I love the brand.”
– Lilia Narvaez, Taco Bell Area Coach
Taco Bell Through the Decades
Lilia’s experience with Taco Bell began in 1989, when she started as a team member. Over the years, she worked her way through several roles, including Shift Leader, Restaurant General Manager (RGM) and CER Specialist (CORE auditor), gaining valuable insight with every new role.
When DDO purchased her franchise, Lilia was already familiar with our company. She joined us as an AC, and remains happy in that role. Today, Lilia leads Area 34, bringing unmatched restaurant experience and a commitment to developing others.
Lilia’s journey has given her a firsthand understanding of what it takes to grow within the quick-service industry and the importance of investing in the people who make the business successful.
Growing as a Leader Through Training & Development
One of the most important lessons Lilia has learned with us is the value of training. She recognizes that effective leadership starts with equipping team members with the knowledge, support and confidence they need to succeed.
For Lilia, leadership development is more than a professional responsibility. It’s one of the most rewarding parts of her work.
“What I most enjoy about working for DDO is developing young leaders and mentoring them in business, and sometimes life,” she shares.
Lilia takes pride in supporting the people around her. Her approach reflects a belief that strong leaders are built through consistency and encouragement.
“Reaching 10 years with DDO means the world.”

Finding Family, Friendship & Support
When asked about the coworkers she admires, Lilia points to her fellow ACs in Region 2. She values the opportunity to exchange ideas, discuss challenges and connect with peers who understand the responsibilities of the role.
That sense of connection is a meaningful part of her experience. She says she’s witnessed how growth and empathy can go hand in hand, especially when team members are navigating challenges in their personal lives.
“DDO has taught me that [they’re] willing to help people grow with the company and to have empathy with life struggles,” she says.
The Next Chapter
Looking ahead, Lilia is excited to continue developing as a leader while gaining a deeper understanding of the younger workforce. She knows that leadership is an ongoing journey; she’s eager to keep learning and adapting along the way.
Her advice to someone starting their career with DDO is simple but impactful: invest in yourself. Whether that means saving money or teaching yourself about leadership, Lilia encourages team members to take ownership of their personal and professional development.
When she reflects on her time here, Lilia describes the experience in five words: growth, friendships, family, development and success.
It’s been quite a ride, and her journey is a reminder of the opportunities that come from dedication, continuous learning and a genuine passion for helping others succeed. Congratulations on 10 years, Lilia! Thank you for your leadership and the energy you bring to the job each day. We’re excited to see all that lies ahead!
