DDO DOES GOOD: COMMUNITY GRANTS

Each year, Desert De Oro (DDO)’s Taco Bell restaurants participate in a giving initiative organized by the Taco Bell Foundation’s Community Grants Program. This was the program’s biggest giving year yet, with over $28 million — a $5 million increase over last year — distributed among nearly 500 charitable organizations across the United States.

We’re thrilled to share that DDO was responsible for generating over $4 million of that $28 million total! Even better? The entirety of that $4 million is going right back to the communities we serve — specifically, to charitable organizations whose prime focus is expanding youth access to academic mentorship, career exploration, financial literacy and more.

Organizations that will benefit from funds include the Boys & Girls Club of San Angelo, Junior Achievement of Rhode Island and the Chisolm Trail, the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, and the Live Más Scholarship Program.

SMALL CHANGE, BIG IMPACT

This year’s record-breaking giveback amounts were made possible in part thanks to the generous contributions of Taco Bell guests. We can thank the practice of “rounding up” — asking guests when checking out if they’d like to round up their total to the next dollar — with a large portion. The Taco Bell Foundation reported an average round up total of just 44 cents — meaning that tiny acts of good can truly generate large, lasting change.

Funds are also made possible thanks to the generosity of both Taco Bell team members and franchisee owners.

“It’s always been important to the owners — and us as a community — that we give back.”Fred Bendel, VP Of Operations

We want to give a huge thank you to everyone who made giving back possible!
