For the New England team at Desert de Oro Foods (DDO), summer is a time to celebrate. Rather than hosting a traditional holiday party during a season when unpredictable weather can make plans challenging, the team gathers during the summer to recognize achievements and celebrate the people who make them possible. This year, team members came together at Chamberlain Farm and Pavilion in Berkley, MA for an afternoon filled with food, fun and plenty of team spirit!
DDO New England’s summer party is more than a one-time event. It’s a tradition that began before we acquired the market and is one we’re proud to continue supporting!
“They work really hard and it’s nice to treat them to a nice and elevated event where they can eat, dance, and enjoy each other’s company,” says Office Manager Tiara Thornton.

An Afternoon of Fun & Connection
This year’s event brought together DDO leadership, newly promoted Region Director Selene Quintana, Area Coaches (ACs) and Restaurant General Managers (RGMs) from across the New England region.
With beautiful gardens and scenic views surrounding the venue, there was no shortage of opportunities to relax and connect. Oversized Jenga and chess sets were spread throughout the property, while corn hole quickly became a crowd favorite in the garden.
For Tiara, the event was also a chance to connect with the RGMs she works alongside. She enjoyed spending time with the team and capturing memories together at the photo booth.
Celebrating With a Little Friendly Competition
The fun continued with a raffle featuring prizes that gave team members even more reason to celebrate. Simply by attending the event, team members had the opportunity to win everything from kitchenware and tech gadgets to summer-themed prizes.
But according to Tiara, the prizes themselves weren’t the only memorable part. Watching team members dance with their winnings was one of her favorite moments of the day.
A Celebration Worth Continuing
Our annual summer party represents something bigger than an afternoon away from work. It’s an opportunity to recognize the people behind DDO’s continued growth and give them a chance to enjoy each other’s company.
“It is rewarding to see all the planning and coordination for an event come together seamlessly,” says Tiara.
